Kurdish apple pie
Of course, you can't choose your neighbors. However, I have an exceptional neighbor. He is a Turkish Kurd who has been living in Poland for a dozen or so years.
We met a few days ago, when I was enjoying the May sun on the terrace, and at the same time, he was playing with his three half-Polish daughters on his terrace. After a short chat, I received an invitation for grilled lamb and a few glasses of Turkish vodka - raki.
Today I paid my neighbor Feyyaz a return visit.
Making an impression with a grill on Turek is undoubtedly a difficult task, and if this Turk is the head of one of Warsaw's steakhouses, then you have to realize that you have no chance.
I grilled chicken marinated in yogurt with Indian spices, turkey koftas with coriander and ginger, eggplant, zucchini and naan pancakes. For a snack I prepared bigos, and for dessert, tiramisu made of fresh eggs from the Konstancin market.
We discussed the chances of the Turkish Kaczyński in the Turkish elections taking place today, the situation of women in our countries, Kurdish cuisine and religion, and the best Turkish vacation spots.
It's a good thing I decided to prepare an Italian dessert at the last minute, because after trying the apple pie brought by my Kurdish neighbor, I would have had to give up.
